A LANCASHIRE haulage and logistics business has expanded for the second time this year by adding
a third major site to its offering. FDC Holdings, which specialises in palletised distribution, storage
and fulfilment for some of the UK’s largest brands, has started operating from the 110,000 sq ft site at the Spurrier Works, Centurion Way, in Leyland, creating further jobs in the process.

The leasing of the site from Lancashire County Council follows the deal to buy Unit 330 at Walton Summit Centre, near Preston, for an undisclosed seven-figure sum. The firm turned it into a business hub by leasing a significant part of the 306,766 sq ft building to other businesses. Overall, FDC is planning to create around 20 jobs this year through growth and acquisition as it expands its Lancashire base.

Peter Allen, managing director of FDC, said: “This investment really helps to put this area of Lancashire
on the map as a hub, creating space for other businesses who need storage and distribution, office
space or workshops and warehousing facilities. We’re a family-owned business and our feet are planted firmly on the ground here in our home – we’re proud of our roots and our business is built on putting our customers first every time.”

FDC, which has its headquarters on a 14-acre site at Moorland Gate Business Park, Chorley, has doubled turnover to £6m and doubled staff numbers to 40 in the last two years. Founded by Peter and his brother Stephen in 1997, the company serves customers in a variety of sectors. Across its three sites, FDC is able to offer more than 552,000 sq ft of storage, self-contained office space, workshops and warehouses in total.
